that rationalist architecture of the 1930s that Sebastiano has always been fascinated by. The canvases in this series address a profound reflection on the 'culture' of uncontrolled overbuilding that for decades has almost always resulted in inharmonious and degrading building in the environmental context. These paintings seem to celebrate the union between a minimalist surrealism and a metaphysical vision and offer the viewer a precarious, fragile scenario, a dialogue open to contradiction, in which the aesthetics of colour openly mask a brutal artifice. The playful architectures are dropped into an alienating context, prompting the viewer to investigate beyond mere depiction. Close
