Owen grew up in Devon on the South West coast on England and was inspired by nature and the ocean from a young age. He went on to study illustration in Falmouth in Cornwall, and there, began experimenting with telling stories through the traditional and digital painting techniques which are now an integral part of his work. After a career exploring many areas such as sign painting, and boat painting – Owen now lives and works from his studio in Bristol where he paints both for himself and for clients such as the New Yorker, The New York Times, Penguin, The Economist and the BBC.
