glance, Sonia's work communicates the pleasure of a skilful chromatism, of captivating shapes, but if you look more carefully you can detect a vibration, a background radiation that sets the scene in motion, breaks the apparent immobility of the representation. Sonia Strukul interprets nature, rewrites it with meticulous care, starting from degree zero: the black that forms the background to most of her works is an absolute, distilled, alchemical black. It is the universe that has always existed and will always exist. From those depths Sonia is able to extract life, it is not, therefore, a simple representation of nature but, the curtain of what is hidden, which the artist uses, manipulates to distract, divert the viewer's attention from itself.
